Brunch with Bowie in the Heart of Mayfair

We found Ziggy Green on a quiet street just off Regent Street—an easy stroll from Oxford Circus. Heddon Street has that tucked-away feel we love. It's a peaceful spot in the middle of busy Mayfair. And it feels like a secret if you've never been before.

Ziggy Green is part of the Daisy Green Collection, a group of Aussie-inspired cafés dotted around London. Each location has its own personality. This one? It's all about David Bowie.

The entrance is subtle but stylish, tucked into a quiet corner of Heddon Street. Step inside and you'll find a small bar area on the ground floor, with pastries on display and soft lighting that sets a warm tone. The design leans towards the theatrical, with rich colours, moody art, and plenty of nods to David Bowie.

It feels more like an intimate gallery than a café. Ziggy Green stretches across two floors, with most of the seating upstairs. The space is cosy but cool—creative without being overdone.

We had a quiet corner table on the first floor, away from the bustle. It felt private and relaxed—great for a slow brunch. The vibe was calm and easygoing. Music played softly in the background. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and our orders arrived fast.

We started with a round of drinks. The fresh orange juice was sharp and refreshing — a perfect way to ease into brunch. The oat latte and oat cappuccino were rich, smooth, and properly made, with a dusting of chocolate powder that made them feel indulgent.

Food came quickly. First up was the Dirty Daisy—a proper Aussie-style brunch plate. Tater tots, chorizo, poached eggs, salsa, beans, sour cream, pickles, and cheese on charcoal sourdough. Big flavours. Good textures. Everything worked.

Next came the Smoked Salmon Royale. It looked simple but had great depth—smoked salmon, soft poached eggs, smashed avo and zingy hollandaise on dark rye. A classic, done really well.

For dessert, we started with the Peach Melba Coconut French Toast, which was sweet, fluffy, and full of tropical flavour. The coconut and peach combination added a light, summery touch that made it indulgent without feeling too heavy.

Next came the Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes, served warm and soft with a generous helping of fresh berries and maple syrup. Comforting and well-balanced, they were just the right note to end the meal on.

The food is consistent with what you'll find at other Daisy Green spots, like Timmy Green. That's both a plus and a minus. You know what to expect—but we'd love to see a few dishes unique to Ziggy Green, especially with such a creative theme.

Prices are mid-range for London brunch. Good value considering the portions, quality, and setting.

The story behind this restaurant adds to the charm. The founders started out in vintage ice cream vans and slowly built their café empire from there. That scrappy, street-food spirit still shows in how they run things. But now, it comes with polished service and beautifully designed interiors.

Would we come back? Yes, without a doubt.

Ziggy Green is a great choice for a relaxed weekend brunch, a midweek treat, or a casual date. If you're into music, art, or just good coffee and well-made food—it's worth the trip.
